Yogurt Tzatziki


This is one of the episodes I shared in my TV show episode on HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. High blood pressure if one of diagnoses under the umbrella of hear disease. Heart disease is the LEADING causing of death of both men and women worldwide.


Try this sauce drizzled over my veggie skewers with red lentil salad.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups plain yogurt, drained *see below

  • 1 cup peeled and shredded, cucumber, drained *see below

  • 2 cloves minced garlic, grated

  • 1 lemon, juice and zest 

  • ¼ tsp pink salt

Instructions:

  • Take 2 bowls and add two fine stainers so they sit inside the bowl without touching the bottom of the bowl. You will drain the yogurt and cucumber to remove excess water using this apparatus.

  • You will line the fine strainer. You can do this with a few modalities - either with a cheese cloth, a nut milk bag, with a lint-free dinner napkin, or with a coffee filter.

  • Allow the cucumber and yogurt to drain for as long as possible, and ideally overnight.

  • In a large mixing bowl, add the drained yogurt and cucumber.

  • Add lemon juice, zest, salt, and garlic.

  • Grate garlic using a microplane or grater.

  • Mix together.

  • Use over salads, sandwiches, any dish. You can even marinate chicken with it!
